The Russian Foreign Ministry announced today that the European Union, by imposing the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, is trying to use energy for political purposes and does not take into account the interests of the international community.
"It is clear that the European Union, by imposing or planning to impose unilateral sanctions against Russian energy supplies, is politicizing the energy sector and trying to use the interdependence of consumers and energy suppliers on each other as a tool of political pressure," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its website, Sputnik. .
The statement added, "The decision taken at the European Council meeting to partially ban the import of Russian oil and petroleum products into the European Union confirms that this bloc is not ready to abandon this harmful practice and does not take into account the interests of the international community."
The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that there is no real alternative to Russian energy resources for the European market in the foreseeable future, and that replacing liquefied gas with Russian pipeline gas is an illusion.
European countries and America imposed unfair economic sanctions on Russia against the backdrop of its special military operation in Ukraine to protect the residents of Donbass in late February, and these sanctions led to serious repercussions on the global economy due to the rise in oil, gas, grain and metal prices to record levels.
