Once their debt to society has been paid, everyone can stand for legislative elections unless they are sentenced to ineligibility.

Germain Gaiffe, now 55, is proof of this, he is running for the post of deputy for the second constituency of Vaucluse.

The constituency is the one that sees Stanislas Rigault, and his alternate Marion Maréchal present themselves.

But there is no doubt that the fifty-year-old will be talked about.

Indeed the latter has spent the trifle of 24 years in prison in recent years, and is nicknamed the "butcher of Montauban".

How did he get such a nickname?

Germain Gaiffe was sentenced in 1997 for the sordid murder of a businessman in Tarn-et-Garonne.

The victim's legs were found in the Garonne in January 1998 and the decapitated trunk a year later in the Tarn river.

The investigation had revealed that the murdered businessman worked with the father of the now candidate.

The latter reproached him for the poor results of the company they co-directed, he sent his son and another man to "hold him to account".

During the trial, Germain Gaiffe always denied having cut the victim, invoking the hypothesis of a boat propeller and explained his death by an accidental fall.

The height of irony, the latter is married to Alfredo Stranieri, nicknamed "the killer in the classifieds".

A marriage celebrated in 2013 with the terrorist Carlos and the controversial humorist Dieudonné as witnesses.

At the time, the newlyweds were planning to adopt a fellow prisoner, had launched a provocative Dieudonné, disappointed not to have been able to attend the whole ceremony dressed in a wedding dress… Decidedly facetious, the couple had also claimed in letters the paternity of the daughter of Rachida Dati.

"No one but me is more legitimate to be the representative of the people because I took 30 years on behalf of the people", defends the one who has remained close to Dieudonné (Editor's note, he co-wrote several of his shows) in an interview with La Provence.

"My candidacy is more serious than the poorly played show given by the elected officials"

“People have the right to resent me.

They have the right not to understand,” also asserts the former detainee.

Moreover, this project is not new since it

had already tried to present himself, in 2017, from his cell.

But he had not been authorized to file his candidacy for the prefecture.

"Today, when I am incriminated, I don't care and in fact, this criminal record allows me to be

free to denounce the system.

As ludicrous as it may seem, my candidacy is more serious than the poorly acted spectacle given by the elected officials, despite the budget they have,” attacked the candidate in La Provence.

The first measure he will defend if he is elected will be the impossibility for a person with a criminal record to stand for election.

“I will be the first to be removed from my mandate,” he quips with the daily.

In his electoral program, he also wants to organize citizen debates, or suppress political parties.

But as a “specialist” in the prison world, he also has several iconoclastic proposals: the first, respecting the dignity of the prisoner, then sending minors to a center for legionnaires rather than imprisonment, or even assimilating drug dealers to terrorists.
