Anne Turner Cook, whose face has become the symbol of the toddler food brand for nearly a century, was a writer and English teacher • Her identity was kept secret by the company until 1978.

The baby that conquered the world died: Anne Turner Cook, known around the world as a baby whose iconic image was emblazoned on the Gerber baby food brand, passed away today (Sunday) at the age of 95, her family members reported to the media in the United States.

"Many years before she became an extraordinary mother, teacher and writer, Ann's smile and expression of curiosity captured hearts everywhere and will continue to do so as a symbol of the essence of all babies," Gerber said in a statement on Twitter.

"We send our deepest condolences and love to Ann's family and to anyone who has had the pleasure of getting to know her," the company added in a statement.

A drawing of Anne's face became a symbol of the company's products, which produce a variety of foods for toddlers, 90 years ago and has remained so ever since.

In order to locate the appropriate baby for the logo, the company held a competition in which a modest prize was offered to the baby or baby girl who would be found suitable.

Dorothy Hope Smith, a neighbor of the Cook family, entered the charcoal drawing contest of baby Anne, and according to the wreck, "the judges fell in love with baby Anne's face."

Cook turned to education and teaching and became an English teacher.

She was also recognized as a thriller writer and used to give lectures on the subject.

The company itself kept Kook's identity secret in a jealous way until 1978, when the company agreed to reveal the identity of the baby who became a symbol around the world.
