Various cultural and artistic activities in the Armenian cultural week at the University of Aleppo

Aleppo, SANA- The Syrian Youth Cultural Club of the Armenian Orthodox sect of the Diocese of Aleppo and its dependencies organized in cooperation

The Syrian Youth Cultural Club of the Armenian Orthodox sect of the Diocese of Aleppo and its dependencies, in cooperation with the National Union of Syrian Students, organized the Armenian Cultural Week at Aleppo University.

Today's activities included the opening of an art, heritage and cultural exhibition that includes the contributions of Armenian writers, thinkers and historians to human civilization throughout history and their products in the fields of architecture, construction, music, literature and art.

It also included a number of traditional handicrafts, mystical works, embroideries, textiles, musical and folk instruments that were unique to Armenian music, in addition to paintings explaining the most important archaeological sites in Armenian cities throughout history, as well as a reminder of the massacres committed against the Armenian people.

The Armenian Archbishop of the Diocese of Aleppo and its Dependencies, Masis Zoboyan, explained in a statement to SANA reporter the importance of holding the Armenian Cultural Week in Aleppo University to shed light on the most important products of the Armenian people in the cultural, literary, scientific and intellectual fields, and to introduce the most famous creators who contributed to building human civilization.

Bishop Zoboyan added that the exhibition constitutes an opportunity to introduce the young and educated generation to the most important folk customs and traditions that are part of the Syrian social fabric.

For his part, the President of Aleppo University, Dr. Maher Karman, said that the university’s hosting of cultural and artistic events, including the Armenian Cultural Week, contributes to the dissemination of the Armenian people’s products and creativity in various fields that blend with the Syrian culture and thus contribute to strengthening friendship and cooperation relations between Syria and Armenia.

Chris Biasian of the Syrian Youth Club pointed out that the exhibition's holdings speak of the culture of the Armenian people and the most important handicrafts and traditional professions that parents and grandparents are keen to adhere to and preserve in order to serve future generations.

The activities of the cultural week also included a lecture entitled “History of Armenian Culture” presented by People’s Assembly member Jirayer Raisian at the Grand Medicine Amphitheater, in which he talked about the impact of Armenian culture on other peoples and the sciences and knowledge it provided that contributed to enriching human civilization.

The activities of the Armenian Cultural Week continue with the establishment of several artistic and cultural activities and events, including lectures and evenings of folk music and theatrical performances presented by the Syrian Youth Cultural Club.
