Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi welcomed today the Syrian artists participating in the activities of the Syrian Film Week organized by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities.

The Prime Ministry said in a statement that SANA’s correspondent in Baghdad received a copy of it: “Al-Kazemi welcomed the participating artists and their visit to Iraq, and considered it an important pillar in strengthening the bonds of cultural and artistic cooperation between Iraq and Syria, as they are two essential countries in the cultural depth of the region and its brotherly peoples.”

The statement indicated the presence of the great artist Duraid Laham, the artist Hala Bitar, the artist Ayman Zidan, the director Basil Al-Khatib and a number of other Syrian artists and creators in the field of cinema.

Syrian artists, in turn, expressed their happiness for their presence in the capital, Baghdad, alongside Iraqi artists and intellectuals, and their hope for more joint artistic and cultural work with their Iraqi counterparts, in a way that carries people's concerns and the public's aspirations to see expressive and creative artworks.

The Syrian film delegation participating in the Syrian Film Week currently held in Baghdad, during its visit to the Iraqi National Museum, was briefed on the effects of civilizations that were established on the land of Mesopotamia, such as the Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian and Akkadian, and the stages of civilizational foundation that the Iraqis rose through history.
