The CDU defended its dominant position in the district elections in Saxony.
The CDU candidates won in five of the six districts in which voting took place in the second ballot.
In the district of Zwickau, the candidate from the CDU defeated the candidate of the Free Voters - but only just ten votes ahead.
Three weeks ago, the CDU candidates had won the absolute majority in three districts in the first ballot.
In the other districts, a second round of voting was necessary because none of the candidates received the required number of votes right away.
In the second ballot, a simple majority was enough.
The turnout in all districts was below 40 percent on Sunday, as reported by the MDR.
In the district of Mittelsachsen, on the other hand, the Christian Democrats lost the post of district administrator, where the non-party individual applicant Dirk Neubauer won.
He was supported by the SPD and the left, among others.
The AfD, however, missed its goal of occupying a district administrator position for the first time in Germany in the local elections in Saxony.
