Police yesterday (11th) received a report from an 11-year-old girl who said she saw a man sitting near her suspected of committing indecent acts in a bus compartment on the morning of July 9th.
Officers from the Fourth Team of the Tuen Mun District Criminal Investigation Team took over the investigation.
After in-depth investigation and intelligence analysis, officers quickly identified a target man and launched an operation in Tuen Mun District at about 4 pm today (12th), arresting a 22-year-old surnamed Chen Benn in a private housing estate on Guan Cui Road Man, suspected of disrupting public decency.
Officers seized the clothing that the man was suspected of wearing at the time of the crime.
The police said that they have zero tolerance for any crime that destroys public decency or etiquette, especially in the case of etiquette against young girls.
The police also reminded that destroying the public body is a serious crime. Once convicted, the maximum penalty is 7 years in prison. Members of the public should not try the law by themselves.
