In Grevenbroich, a primary school student was trapped under an SUV in an accident.

The fire brigade had to free the boy with a lifting bag

Grevenbroich – In Grevenbroich (Rhein-Kreis Neuss) on Tuesday afternoon, July 12, an elementary school student collided with a car.

He was trapped under an all-terrain vehicle - a so-called SUV - and was unable to free himself.

Nevertheless, the fire brigade speaks of "luck in misfortune".

Because the boy was only slightly injured, as reported by 24RHEIN.

But first things first: "Around 12:50 p.m., the child of primary school age collided with a passenger car at the Ostwall/Parkstrasse intersection for reasons that have not yet been clarified," said the fire brigade on Tuesday evening.

The child and bicycle were trapped under the vehicle in front, an SUV.

Although the boy was responsive in Grevenbroich, he could only move to a limited extent, it is said.

While the child was being treated medically by emergency services and a doctor who happened to be present, the firefighters began to free the little patient.

The rescue took about 20 minutes.

"We secured the car against further movement and then raised it with lifting bags so that we could first lift the bike and then gently free the child," says operations manager Max Chiandetti.

Just a few days ago, an eleven-year-old was hit by a VW Golf on an electric scooter in Cologne.

The student is said to have run a red light at the traffic light.

Accident in Grevenbroich: Child trapped under SUV – slightly injured in hospital

With the help of a special rescue board, a so-called spineboard, the child was carefully pulled out from under the car in the accident in Grevenbroich and could then be examined.

The elementary school student was particularly brave, as the fire brigade further reports.

"During the rescue, the child was remarkably alert and relaxed given the drama of what happened."

The child was taken to a children's hospital.

A hamstring injury was found there.

During the rescue measures, the Ostwall/Parkstrasse intersection was temporarily closed.

It is not yet clear what caused the accident and how extensive the damage is.
