Several temperature records for the month of July were broken in ten cities this Saturday in France.

A sweltering Saturday in places.

While the episode of strong heat should last at least until the beginning of next week, monthly temperature records have still been recorded in the country.

Some 38 departments were placed on heat wave orange vigilance for Sunday.

This episode mainly concerns for the moment Aquitaine, Occitania, the Rhône valley and Provence with maximums between 35 and 39 degrees on Saturday, or even 40 degrees locally.

“Heat records for the month of July were again beaten today (the 3rd time of the week on certain stations)”, noted the meteorologist Guillaume Séchet on Twitter this Saturday.

The most notable record, he says, is at Mont Aigoual, where 28.2°C was recorded.

Some 41.5°C were also reached in Soumont, in Hérault, and 42.5°C in Siran, in the same department.

In the Aude, it was 40.9 ° C in Durban-Corbières this Saturday, 40.8 in Lézignan-Corbières and 39.3 in Caunes-Minervois.

In Revel, in Haute-Garonne, a temperature of 39.2 ° C was recorded.

A peak scheduled for Monday

On Sunday, the maximum should reach between 35 and 40 degrees in Aquitaine, Occitanie, the Rhone Valley and Provence, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees locally in the South West.

“The strong heat will also extend to the northwest”, indicates Météo France.

In Brittany, it will often be 34-35 degrees or more and the night cooling will be less than the previous days.

The mercury should exceed 30 degrees throughout the territory "except on the edge of the Channel and near the northern borders".

“The peak of this heat wave is confirmed for Monday,” said Météo France in a situation report.
