The tragedy of jumping into the sea to save lives in Saigon.
At about 6 pm today (17th), the police received a report that a male speedboat captain fell into the sea on a speedboat about 50 meters offshore from Dawangzai.
After receiving the report, the police and fire department rushed to find out and found that the three women on the speedboat were safe and sound, but the male captain was missing, so they launched a search. The Government Flying Service also dispatched helicopters to assist.
About an hour later, rescuers finally found the man who fell into the sea and picked him up, but it was confirmed that he was dead.
It is reported that the deceased was a staff member of the shipping company, who earlier drove a speedboat to take three women out to sea to play Wakeboard.
After investigation by the police, it is believed that one of the women who is now water skiing fell into the sea. The male captain was suspected of being hit by the propeller of the engine while he was jumping into the sea to save people. He died of severe injuries to the chest and abdomen.

After the incident, rescuers first assembled at the Marine Police Base opposite Sai Kung, and then launched a sea and air search and rescue. Marine police vessels, fire boats and fire frogmen searched and rescued at the surface and in the water respectively. The Government Flying Service dispatched helicopters to assist in the search.
At the scene, the three women on the speedboat were unharmed and were sent to the Marine Police Base to disembark, and they were all covered with warm blankets.
At about 7 o'clock in the evening, rescuers finally found the missing man in the sea, but confirmed that he died on the spot.
Officers later sent the body to the Marine Police Base, accompanied by a man ashore.
The police said that the male deceased, surnamed Chen (31 years old), was the captain of the speedboat involved.
At the time of the incident, the speedboat, which was about 7 meters long, sailed to the sea about 50 meters away from Dawangzai. During this period, a female passenger who was playing water skiing fell into the sea. Seeing this, Chen Nan jumped into the sea to save him, but he was suspected of being killed. The speedboat's engine propeller was hit, and its chest and abdomen were injured. After being rescued by firefighters, the scene was confirmed dead.
The police are now treating the case as "someone fell into the sea", and an autopsy will be arranged to determine the cause of death later.
