A woman has been arrested this Wednesday accused of having her husband and two stepchildren killed for an inheritance of 400 million pesos.

Berenice Alanís, dubbed by the local press as the Black Widow, was arrested in a luxurious hotel on the coast in Acapulco, in the state of Guerrero, after spending three years on the run from justice.

This has been reported by the Prosecutor's Office of that entity on its social networks.

The Public Ministry of Mexico City accuses her of being the intellectual author of the murder of her husband, businessman Jacobo Quesada, and his two children, who were shot to death in a gym owned by the family on April 5, 2019. The woman was linked to the process after her arrest.

"Through applied investigation, Berenice "N" was arrested and linked to the process for the crime of intentional homicide by firearm projectile, in response to the order issued by the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City , on December 20, 2019″, the Guerrero Prosecutor’s Office published on its Facebook account.

The agency explained that the arrest was made in "known streets" of the port of the tourist city of Acapulco.

After the news was announced, a photograph circulated of her in handcuffs, dressed in beach clothes and a look of bewilderment on her face.

Alanís had already been arrested for the crime as soon as it happened, in April 2019. But a judge granted her release for irregularities in the case.

As reported by the local press at the time, when the woman was released, she took a luxurious collection of high-end cars that belonged to her husband, a wealthy businessman from Hidalgo.

The authorities are investigating whether the money from those vehicles was what she used these three years to evade justice.

The businessman had met Alanís in 2003 when he hired her to help him clean his house.

Some time later they began a love relationship and later got married.

The dispute between them began when the woman was allegedly unfaithful to him and Quesada decided to remove her from her will.

A businessman, Quesada had numerous properties in his name and a fortune estimated at 400 million pesos, about 19.3 million dollars.

After the decision to strip her of her inheritance, the crime happened.

On the night of April 5, 2019, the businessman and his children, Patricia and Jacobo Jr., were in a gym in the Gustavo A. Madero mayor's office, when the woman arrived to exercise.

On that occasion he even shared a photo of her dressed for exercise on her social networks.

Moments later an armed man entered and shot Quesada and her children.

The material murderer, whose portrait drawn up by the police circulated after the multiple homicide, has remained a fugitive ever since.
