Today, a graduation ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Arab Heritage Institute for the first batch of qualification and specialization master's degrees in speech and language assessment and audiology.

The President of Aleppo University, Dr. Maher Karman, explained in a statement to SANA reporter the importance of providing the university with students specialized in scientific and practical fields and working to improve the quality of services provided to persons with disabilities who suffer from hearing loss and suffer from language, speech and voice disorders.

Karman added, “The success of the cooperation agreement between the University of Aleppo and the Syrian Organization for Persons with Disabilities “Amal” contributes to seriously thinking about creating a College of Health Sciences that works to meet the needs of society in the city of Aleppo and its countryside to address the problems that afflict this category of children.

Claudia Toma, a member of the organization's board of trustees, indicated that the organization is currently working on opening a rehabilitation center for hearing impairment in Aleppo, in which it provides auditory surveys and speech and language rehabilitation, through which it follows up campaigns to detect hearing loss and the snail care program.

Touma considered that the lack of experienced health cadres and the need for specialized teams to provide quality rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities constituted a main motivation for the organization, which, within its national plan, is concerned with training national cadres and supporting academic programs, especially in the field of special education.

The Dean of the College of Nursing, Dr. Nizar Hammad, pointed out the importance of benefiting from the cognitive and scientific experiences gained by students to address the difficulty in pronunciation, speech and hearing loss.

In turn, the head of the National Union of Syrian Students, Aleppo University Branch, Yasser Gawish, confirmed that the master's degree contributed to upgrading students' skills in several fields and learning methods of treatment for most cases that suffer from difficulty in pronunciation.

The student, Wiam Al-Khalil, indicated that the Master's degree in rehabilitation and specialization in speech and language assessment contributes to providing their practical knowledge and addressing the problems of speech and language disorders, while the student, Muhammad Al-Hattab, expressed his happiness in studying in this field.
