The Agricultural Practical Research Center, in cooperation with Tartous University, conducted a test experiment to perform a “single-seed seeder” at Zahid Research Station, designed and prepared by doctoral student Eng. Mahmoud Asaad.
Engineer Asaad said in a statement to SANA reporter that the machine is used in fertilization and agriculture and can be used to plant different types of grain at different distances and depths, and it is characterized by technical specifications, as it uses certain types of agricultural crops, including “yellow corn, peas, chickpeas, lentils, rice and wheat,” and it took nearly a year to complete. He pointed out the difficulties he faced in securing the necessary materials.
Asaad added that the importance of the machine lies in the fact that it saves time, effort and cost for farmers and cultivates crops that require precision in agriculture by maintaining a uniform and constant distance on the single planting line, in addition to conducting the fertilization process with it in one pass.
Asaad pointed out that the machine can plant four lines within one pass, and the feeding device of the composting unit can be used as a lining unit for grain crops such as wheat and barley, without dispensing with the composting process, and it is capable of planting 40 kilograms per seed filling.
Vice President of Tartous University for Scientific Affairs and Scientific Research, supervising the research, Dr. Muhammad Ghanem, confirmed that the seed is the fruit of scientific cooperation between agricultural research and Tartous University.
The Director General of the General Authority for Scientific Agricultural Research, Dr. Magda Mufleh, explained that the agricultural mechanization department is a modern department in the authority, and within three years, more than one machine was designed, emphasizing the importance of such inventions, especially under the conditions of the economic blockade imposed on the country, pointing out that the machine is experimental and more work will be done. model and put it into service.
The head of the Tartous Research Center, Dr. Shadi Faskha, stated that the research was implemented within the authority's annual plan and received full support, in addition to providing all requirements as much as possible, expressing his feeling of pride in being a local design and a national product in terms of supervision, implementation and financing.
