After weeks of radio silence, Princess Charlène is back with surprisingly candid words.

Monaco's country mother has gone through a long ordeal that has demanded a lot from her.

With the help of her family, she fights back to everyday life.

Monaco – For months, Charlene von Monaco (44) had disappeared from the scene, in South Africa she had to recover from a serious ENT infection and subsequent complications.

The palace was covered at the time, and the fans were denied more detailed information about the health of Prince Albert II (64) wife.

Princess Charlène has now revealed how much she suffered from her long illness in an emotional interview with the "You" portal.

The love of her family gives Charlene of Monaco strength

Charlène has been reunited with her family since March of this year.

Husband Albert and seven-year-old twins Jacques and Gabriella had to cope without their wife and mother for a long time, but their help meant a lot to the 44-year-old.

Prince Albert had to attend many appointments without his wife last year, but Charlène of Monaco can now accompany him to official occasions again.

"I went through a very difficult time, but fortunately I could count on the support and love of my husband, my children and my family, from which I draw my strength," explains the mother of two to the South African portal.

The Grimaldis were only able to visit Princess Charlène a few times during her convalescence.

In the summer of 2021, the trio traveled to South Africa, and at the beginning of this year to Switzerland, where the former professional swimmer was treated in a clinic.

Charlene of Monaco's Sanitary Odyssey

In the spring of 2021, Princess Charlène traveled to her native South Africa, but what was originally a short trip turned into a month-long visit.

An ENT infection prevented the Monegasque princess from returning home, and there were also several operations and hospital stays.

In November, Charlène was finally able to head home to Monaco, only a few days later she had to turn her back on the palace again.

She went to a Swiss clinic for treatment, which she was able to leave in March of this year.

After a long absence: Monaco's Charlene is doing better

The fact that she can spend time with her loved ones again and take part in everyday life in the Prince's Palace is apparently good for Charlene.

"I feel so much stronger physically," she says in an interview with "You."

The native South African has been taking public appointments in the service of the Crown since spring, and trips abroad such as an audience with Pope Francis (85) in the Vatican are back on Charlène's agenda.

The "solemn and emotional" meeting with the head of the Catholic Church touched her deeply, saying that faith always helped her in the difficult moments of her life.
