The 5th grade students at the "Ma'ain" elementary school in Moshav Bar-Giora in Mate Yehuda arrived excitedly at school this morning.
But instead of studying in a classroom - a tent was waiting for them.
The reason: the regional council did not train a proper classroom for the first graders, and they had to take turns with them and study in a tent in the yard.

During the summer, it became clear that there was a problem in the building intended for first grades, and the renovation work there was stopped.
Since then the parents have put a lot of pressure on the Mate Yehuda Council to find a solution to the situation.
According to the parents, the council compounded the default even more and was unable to find a suitable class.
They also claimed that they were given false promises regarding the bringing of derelict buildings, the use of public buildings for the benefit of the students - which were not honored.
This morning they were offered a solution that they claim is not satisfactory: a temporary tent, without acoustics or adequate ventilation.
They claim that the air conditioners that were brought to the tent are faulty, and that it is a hot space during the learning hours.
In addition, the tent does not have a proper door and there is a fear that snakes, scorpions, snakes, etc. will suddenly emerge inside.
"These solutions are not applicable in practice and are not worthy of learning and staying in them for a long time," said one of the mothers to Israel Hayom.

The Mate Yehuda Regional Council responded: "During safety inspections during the construction process and the adaptation of the building's conversion to classrooms, it became clear that additional and unexpected maintenance work is required for the building. The council will not compromise on the issue of student safety, and therefore, the classroom was not opened until all safety work was completed.
