Journalism, book writing and maybe politics: Boris Johnson's plans Israel today

2022-09-05T19:41:33.858Z

The outgoing British Prime Minister will seek to stay away from the spotlight, and will try to concentrate on his writing hobby • Before entering politics, Johnson was a TV host, journalist and publicist, and a return to the media may also be on the cards

The outgoing Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, is expected to vacate the residence at 10 Downing Street tomorrow (Tuesday), and where he is headed is still unclear, but it is very doubtful whether he intends to disappear from the public eye.

"Johnson is not the man to retire quietly to a country house and devote himself to fundraising for a local church," his biographer, Andrew Gimson, told the BBC.

In the absence of an announcement from Johnson, the more common bet is that "Bojo" will return to media.

Before entering politics, Johnson was a TV presenter, journalist and publicist, earning around £275,000 a year for his weekly column in the Daily Telegraph. He also edited Britain's most influential political magazine, The Spectator. Writing or editing, Certainly as a former Prime Minister, he will be guaranteed a handsome salary and even higher than what he received as Her Majesty's Prime Minister - and will also allow him to remain in the public arena and continue to influence politics. Paid lectures are also a good option.

Both journalism and giving lectures will do Johnson no harm if he decides in the future to jump into the political quagmire again.

Although he retains his place as a legislator from the backbenches, it is doubtful whether these will provide an ambitious and colorful type like Johnson.

His associates, who spoke to CNN, said that in their opinion he was not resigned to his impeachment because it was not done on the ballot but because of a series of public scandals and a ministerial revolt that followed.

"The handling of the scandals was in the media, not in the public, and I am afraid that his members of parliament caved under the pressure," said one of Johnson's colleagues, "In my opinion, he treats the priesthood as unfinished business, and I hope he will remain politically active."

If he still wants to stay out of the spotlight, Johnson can turn to writing his memoirs.

The outgoing Prime Minister has already written eight books, including a biography of Winston Churchill, the object of his admiration.

He also has a contract to write a biography of William Shakespeare.

He started writing the book seven years ago, and the publisher expected to publish it already in 2016.

But then the Brexit referendum came, Johnson was appointed foreign minister and then prime minister, and the book stalled.

"Shakespeare deals a lot with the monarchy and the question of when it is possible and necessary to rebel and kill the king," added the biographer Gimson, "Now that his own party has risen up against him, Johnson probably has an ending to the book."
