Russia is apparently using drones from Iran in the Ukraine war.

But the Kremlin is said to be dissatisfied with the quality of the aircraft supplied.

Moscow/Tehran - When great powers are ostracized internationally, they join forces: Iran is one of the states whose cooperation with Russia has been intensified in recent months.

The reason: In view of the sanctions against Russia, Vladimir Putin's country is focusing its geopolitical orientation on those nations that do not participate in the tough course against the Moscow Kremlin.

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Russia has also stocked up on drones from Iran for the military conflict in Ukraine.

However, as reported by the US media, the Russian army is anything but satisfied with the aircraft supplied.

Tests are said to have resulted in "numerous errors with the comparatively slow drones".

Ukraine war: Russia using substandard drones from Iran?

According to the reports, transport aircraft recently flew the drones with the type designations "Shahed-129" and "Shahed-191" out of Iran, and models of the new type "Mojaher-6" are said to have migrated from Iran into Russian possession.

A Western secret service agent is quoted as saying that the Russians are "not satisfied".

The claims cannot be verified independently: after all, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov and Russian comrades-in-arms like Maria Zakharova often comment on reports by Western media that contain alleged insider reports about the Russian military.

Newspapers like the Washington Post, which report on the technical drone problem, are specifically spreading false reports, according to Moscow's claim.

Drone deal between Russia and Iran: "Seven out of ten systems arrive"

The drones from Iran are said to have originally been of great importance to the Russian military.

According to the published theory, Vladimir Putin's armed forces are dependent on combat drones from Iran during the offensive in eastern Ukraine and Crimea.

However, given the unexpected quality issues, those hopes were dashed.

The US broadcaster CNN explains this with reference to American secret services.

US security adviser Jake Sullivan is quoted as saying that foreign intelligence services had received information some time ago that Iran wanted to send the Russians hundreds of drones, some of which could be used as weapons.

The agreement between the two great powers also includes the stay of Iranian experts in Russia and training of the Russian military in Iran.

However, there should now be a problem with the reliability of the flying armaments, which are slower compared to western drones.

"If you start ten systems over a medium distance, maybe seven will arrive,"

Russia fills war chests by selling fighter-bombers to Iran

Meanwhile, the two countries are intensifying their intensive partnership elsewhere in order to strengthen their respective economies: Conversely, Iran, which is offering itself as an energy supplier to crisis-hit Europe, will also be upgrading its Wehrmacht with Russian war equipment and buying fighter-bombers.

Air Force Chief Hamid Wahedi told the state news agency Borna that the Asian country is relying on new types of Sukhoi Su-35 aircraft.

Russia and Iran are also working together in space travel: at the beginning of August, the Russian space agency Rosneft launched an Iranian satellite into orbit, which immediately called the US military into action.

However, both the Kremlin and Tehran deny that this mission has anything to do with the Ukraine conflict.
