On the sidelines of the activities of the first conference of the Arab Federation of Productive Families and Handicrafts and Traditional Industries, the regional office of the Federation in Syria today, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, held a festival of handicrafts and heritage under the title “With Our Hands” in the Citadel of Damascus.

About 160 productive families from all governorates participate in the festival, and their exhibits vary between handicrafts, woodwork, waxwork, embroideries, artistic paintings, accessories, clothing and leather, in addition to food products.

In a statement to reporters, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Muhammad Seif El-Din, said that it is important to provide all support and facilities to families working in the field of traditional and handicraft industries to increase their financial returns and develop their products, noting that holding the conference with the participation of 15 Arab countries is important in light of the sanctions and economic blockade they are facing. Syrian.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari explained that the convening of the conference and the establishment of the festival are a clear message to all that Syria is on its way to full recovery, pointing to the importance of the role and work of the Arab Federation of Productive Families.

The head of the Arab Federation of Productive Families, Muhammad Abdul Baset Al-Qadah, indicated that the main objective of the festival is to market the products of productive families in light of the important participation of Arab countries, pointing out that there are a number of facilities provided to these families through agreements signed with Arab countries and relevant ministries to grant exemptions in this field.

The Executive Director of the Arab Development and Reconstruction Company, Muhammad Al-Rabee, pointed out that the festival is to emphasize the importance of highlighting these heritage industries to preserve and develop them permanently, indicating the importance of focusing on training young people in these industries as they represent the ancient history of the Arab countries.

Among the participants in the festival is Rasha Ajaj, a "beekeeper" who indicated that she began working in this field more than 20 years ago, noting that

Her project was sabotaged by the terrorist war that Syria was exposed to, but she was able to re-establish it anew, stressing that the festival is important in upgrading expertise in the field of marketing products and developing the tools that are used.

Craftsman Samir Rahmoun indicated that he has been working in the field of recycling natural waste for 15 years, pointing out that the important thing to focus on is increasing production in light of the economic conditions the country is going through.
