Director of the Department of Foreign Policy Planning in the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Drobinin considered that the era of constructive interaction between Russia and Western countries has ended irreversibly.
According to Drobinin, who wrote on the website of the International Affairs magazine, “The era of 30 years of constructive cooperation in general, albeit not without problems, with the West is over and over and there is no turning back, regardless of the duration and results of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.”
"The process of dismantling arms control mechanisms at the initiative of the United States once again brings to mind scenarios fraught with catastrophic consequences of a clash of nuclear powers," Drobinin added.
With regard to true multipolarity, Drobinin stressed that Russia has entered a sharp stage of confrontation with the aggressive coalition of hostile countries led by the United States, considering that the enemy’s goal is to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia and eliminate it as a geopolitical competitor, noting that the current situation provides a unique opportunity for final liberation from the remaining illusions of some.
"It is clear that there will be no return to the situation and relations with the countries of North America and Europe before February 24, the date of the start of the special military operation to protect the residents of Donbass," the Russian diplomat added.
On the need to carry out reforms in the United Nations, Drobinin stressed making conscious efforts to reform the international organization by expanding the representation of African, Asian and Latin American countries in the UN Security Council and equality of sovereignty, not the artificial imposition of electoral democracy according to Western patterns, in addition to the need to complete the process of decolonization and practices Neo-colonial looting of the natural resources of developing countries by global corporations.
