(Liz Truss) officially took over as prime minister in Britain today, after being tasked with forming a new government.
The Associated Press reported that Terrace officially became the British Prime Minister after Queen Elizabeth II commissioned her to form a new government during a meeting at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
In her new position, Terrace will face enormous challenges amid mounting pressure to curb high prices, ease labor strikes, reform the health care system and staff shortages in the country, foremost among the challenges are the energy crisis caused by the Ukrainian crisis, the closure of companies and the suffering in cold homes during the coming winter.
And members of the British Conservative Party elected a terrace to lead her party, thus becoming the country's prime minister, succeeding Boris Johnson, who submitted his resignation earlier today.
This is the first time in the 96-year-old reign of Queen Elizabeth II that power has been handed over at Balmoral instead of Buckingham Palace in London.
Liz became Britain's third prime minister, after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May, all of whom were Conservatives.
Johnson announced his resignation in July, following the resignation of dozens of ministers in his government, in light of widespread anger at his policies and accusations of lying.
And about 57 members of Johnson's government resigned within only 24 hours, months after the scandal of violating the rules to combat the Corona virus, known as (Party Gate), and hosting a party at Government House in London.
A general election is expected in Britain in 2024.
