Two days after the death of his mother Elizabeth II, Charles III was officially proclaimed king at a meeting of the Accession Council in London.
The ceremony took place at St. James's Palace in the presence of new Queen Consort Camilla, new heir to the throne William, Prime Minister Liz Truss and several of her predecessors.
"We, the Lords Spiritual and Temporal of this Kingdom, and the Members of the House of Commons together with other Members of His Late Majesty's Privy Council and Representatives of the Realms and Territories, Alderman, Citizens of London and others, d 'one voice (…) proclaim that Prince Charles Philip Arthur George, is now by the death of our late sovereign of happy memory, become our only legitimate and happy overlord,' the Registrar said, endorsing the King's proclamation.

Charles III, who was not present during the first part of this ceremony, was then accompanied to the Council Chamber, in order to take the oath.
"My mother's reign was unequaled in its duration, her devotion and her devotion (…) I am deeply aware of this great heritage, the duties and the heavy responsibilities of sovereignty, which are now transmitted to me", declared the 73-year-old king during this ceremony, televised for the first time.

“I will do my best to follow the example that inspired me, to seek peace, harmony and prosperity.
(…) I know that I would be accompanied by people's affection and loyalty.
I am encouraged in all these actions by my beloved wife.
(…) I would dedicate what remains of my life to this task.
May Almighty God guide me, ”continued Charles III, before taking the oath related to the security of the Church of Scotland.
He then signed two papers to confirm that his oath was taken.
Prince William and Queen Consort, Camilla, also signed these documents as witnesses.
At noon, French time, the proclamation will be formalized on the balcony of Saint-James Palace, but also in Trafalgar Square and then at the Royal Exchange.
Shots in Hyde Park and the Tower of London will be fired.
