After leaving Balmoral Castle on Sunday, the Queen's remains joined Saint-Gilles Cathedral in Edinburgh on Monday, September 12, where a religious ceremony was held in the afternoon.

Two days after being proclaimed king by the Council of Succession, Charles III addressed the British Parliament for the first time.
This first audience of the king before the members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords was held this morning shortly after 11 am (Paris time), in Westminster in the presence of Camilla.

Charles III at Holyroodhouse
Shortly after 1 p.m., the royal couple's Bentley arrived at Holyroodhouse, the palace of the monarchy in Edinburgh, greeted by a crowd gathered on the pavements of the old town.

In front of the castle, where the coffin of the queen has been since Sunday, the king inspected the guard of honor and attended a traditional ceremony to hand over the keys to the city.

A procession greeted by the crowd
In the early afternoon, shortly after 3.30pm, the procession carrying the Queen's coffin from Holyroodhouse to St. Giles Cathedral, about a mile away along the Royal Mile, slowly got under way .
An impressive crowd of onlookers had massed for hours along the gates to pay their last respects to Queen Elizabeth.

Behind the hearse flanked by kilted soldiers, Charles III and his siblings, Anne, Edward and Andrew marched abreast.
Every minute a cannon shot from Edinburgh Castle punctuated the parade.
Prince Andrew, deprived of a royal role after accusations of sexual assault, did not wear the uniform.

The religious ceremony in memory of the queen then began in the cathedral.
