Queen Elizabeth II, the second longest-serving monarch in history, died peacefully on September 8 at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Since then, tours, processions and services have been held in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England in honor of Queen Elizabeth, culminating in her state funeral.

This Wednesday one of the last movements before the funeral took place: the coffin of Elizabeth II was carried in a carriage of arms from Buckingham Palace to the Hall of Westminster, the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster, where, according to the preparations , the queen will rest four full days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) until the morning of the day of the funeral.

When is Queen Elizabeth's funeral?

The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will take place on Monday, September 19.

The British Royals confirmed that the funeral will begin at 11:00 am (UK time) or 6:00 am ET, although there will be some movement beforehand.

On the morning of Monday, September 19, declared a public holiday throughout the United Kingdom, the Queen's adorning act will end.

The coffin will travel in procession to Westminster Abbey for her state funeral.

Heads of state are expected to arrive there to join members of the royal family.

Concluding at Westminster Abbey, the coffin will travel in procession to Wellington Arch, to make its final journey from London to Windsor.

The last destination of the queen's coffin is St. George's Chapel, within the grounds of Windsor Castle, which is where her husband, Prince Philip, who died in April 2021 at age 99, rests.

  • 5:00 am - The arrival of world leaders begins

  • 5:30am - The coffin is moved from Westminster Hall to the Abbey

  • 6:00 am - The funeral begins, which will be broadcast on television

  • 7:00 am - Last Post sounds

  • 8:00 am - The coffin arrives at Wellington Arch. There will be a procession from there to Windsor, towards St George's Chapel along the Long Walk

  • 9:00 a.m. - Mass televised and jewels removed from coffin

  • 12:00 pm - King Charles and his family attend a private funeral
