Head of the Kiev cultural authority at a non-partisan vigil in Fürstenfeldbruck

Fürstenfeldbruck – At the non-partisan vigil on September 30, the initiators Andreas Lohde and Christian Götz welcomed the Protestant dean Markus Ambrosy and the head of the Kiev cultural authority Fedir Balandin. 

Both addressed haunting and emotional words to those present and the population of Brucker.

Lohde commemorates the massacre in the Kyiv ravine

First, Lohde recalled the horror of the Babyn Jar massacre.

Exactly 81 years ago, on September 29 and 30, the German Wehrmacht murdered 33,000 Jewish women, men and children within two days in the gorge near Kyiv.

All the more poignant were Fedir Baladin's words that since Russia's attack on Ukraine, Germany and Poland "have become Ukraine's closest siblings and are providing the most aid".

Thanks to the people of Brucker

He thanked the people of Bruck for their enormous help and reported on the destruction of Ukrainian cultural sites and monuments.

He emphasized that culture makes up a country's identity and that constant further cultural creativity is therefore all the more important at this time.

Joint cultural project in the near future

He also referred to the Blessed Edigna, who was the daughter of Anne of Kyiv and granddaughter of the Kiev Grand Duke Yaroslav the Wise.

Together with the city of Fürstenfeldbruck and the Edigna Association, they are hoping for a joint cultural project "in the near future".

Dean Ambrosius said: "The war has reached us, including me personally".

He drew a line from the attitude of the Russian Orthodox Church to discussions in his environment to the daily question of personal behavior, not least with regard to energy consumption in the household.

Help without prejudice

He warned to pay attention to one's own psyche, not to make any blanket prejudices and to continue to help.

Finally, Götz noted that the vigil shows the refugees that the citizens of Brucker certainly do not consider them to be "social tourists".
