The Ministry of Health announced today that the total number of confirmed cholera cases has risen to 692, distributed in Aleppo 435, Deir Ezzor 119, Hasaka 52, Raqqa 28, Latakia 22, As-Suwayda 11, Damascus 8, Hama 7, Homs 6, Daraa 3 and Quneitra 1.
According to a ministry statement, of which SANA received a copy today, the total number of cholera deaths reached 40, distributed in Aleppo 34, Al-Hasakah 3, Deir Ezzor 2 and Damascus 1.
The ministry indicated that most of the deaths were caused by the delay in seeking early medical advice, or by people suffering from chronic diseases.
The ministry called for the need to follow public health procedures represented in washing hands with soap and water frequently, drinking water from a safe source, and if it is not found, it can be boiled for two minutes and then kept in a clean and closed container, washing fruits and vegetables well, cooking food and keeping it at the appropriate temperature and not drinking or eating. Anything of unknown origin or of doubtful safety, and seek early medical advice if infection is suspected.
