The number of beneficiaries of the national campaign to investigate “breast, cervical and prostate” cancers, which is currently implemented by the National Cancer Control Program in Hama Governorate, has exceeded 15,000.

The head of the Public Health Programs Department at the Hama Health Directorate, Dr. Saeed Shomel, confirmed that the citizens’ demand for examinations reveals the depth of health education enjoyed by the people of the governorate and their desire to be assured of their safety, explaining that the number of beneficiaries from it until today is more than 15,000, including 4,500 imaging examinations. A mammogram, 4,700 Pap smears, and 6,400 blood draws to check the prostate.

Dr. Shomel pointed out that public hospitals, health centers and private medical clinics participating in the campaign continue to receive citizens from all parts of the governorate, noting that public hospitals also receive many citizens on an almost daily basis from the countryside of Masyaf and Salamiyah, who did not have the opportunity to benefit from the services of medical clinics. The mobile phone during its presence in these two areas, due to their preoccupation or not being there at that time.

The campaign was launched in Hama on the 19th of last September, and will continue until the 9th of next November.

It is noteworthy that the national campaign to investigate cancer roams various governorates, where its first stop was in Tartous governorate last March, then Lattakia, and currently Hama. Free medical examinations were provided to tens of thousands of people in the countryside and cities to investigate breast, cervical and prostate cancer.
