Daraa City Council, in cooperation with the French Islamic Relief Organization, began preparing the infrastructure to illuminate several main axes in the city with alternative energy.
The head of Daraa City Council, Eng. Amin Al-Omari, explained that the council is following up with the organizations and all supporting parties the plan to illuminate the city with alternative energy, as the infrastructure has been prepared for the installation of 120 devices powered by alternative energy.
Al-Omari indicated that the main axes that will be illuminated are the main road extending from the Hamama roundabout towards the Khirbet roundabout at the eastern entrance to the city and the western corniche of the Airport District and the extension of the street from Souq Al-Hal to Bosra Square and Governmental Complex Street.
Al-Omari pointed out that this step would expand the lighting of the city’s roads with alternative energy and reduce dependence on electricity, noting that the Council is working to reach all the main and vital roads at this stage to light them continuously, and then another stage will be the transition to lighting the secondary roads.
It is noteworthy that about 40 percent of vital roads and commercial markets are illuminated by alternative energy.
