However, what is offered at the so-called "window shopping" in Miami almost passes for us as a peep show and would probably drive many feminists to the barricades.
Hardly any tourist pays any attention to the clothes hanging from the American mannequins.
Rather, DD bust size and sprayed-on lips are popular modeling motifs for doll builders.
Unfortunately, such pumped-up bombshells really are considered women's role models in Miami.
No wonder more and more young girls are going under the knife in Florida.
Almost every second person in the US sunny state has already placed themselves in the hands of a beauty doc.
Lips are injected, noses straightened and natural décolletés are padded.
Results are well known, a prominent example being Pamela Anderson.
Whether it was the plump mannequins that drove young, insecure girls onto the operating table, or whether the plastic mannequins simply adapted to the general ideal of beauty, is difficult to assess and would be tantamount to the question of the egg and the chicken.
What is certain is that these images would be fodder for any anthropologist.
Apparently, there really is a lot more than just an ocean between Europe and the United States.
Above all, consumption is part of both cultures.
And that is always a representation of the current status.
So this image of women IS hot in Miami at the moment.
In Europe, on the other hand, the focus in the shop window is not on the dolls, but on the clothes.
The plastic girls have realistic bust sizes and some don't even have a face.
After all, nothing should distract the buyer from the design of the textiles.
Men who fall into longing dreams and sweet ecstasy in front of the shop window do not reach for their wallets, but in the worst case only start looking for a new girlfriend.
That doesn't help the retail trade.
But this sober approach to consumption could also be described as “typically German”.
Apparently, the US motto “Sex Sells” is only kept in secret here.
So whether Miami or in Europe: Every business administration student learns in the first semester that supply and demand determine each other.
And everyone learns in the course of their life that prejudices have their origins somewhere.
Hardly anything illustrates this better than this small shop window comparison.
