The activities of the Syrian Book Fair, hosted by Al-Assad National Library in Damascus, concluded today with the signing of the book “Syrian Foreign Policy” by Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in the presence of official, diplomatic and cultural events and a crowd of interested people.
“Revisiting Syrian political history to read it with a new eye” is the explanatory phrase for the content of the book, which presents an encyclopedia of Syria’s political history and addresses a prominent period in Syria’s history, during which events collapsed very intensely in the Arab region and the world, and Damascus had the final say in determining many policies And files and agendas, as explained by Dr. Al-Jaafari in a speech during the book signing ceremony in the library's lecture hall.
Al-Jaafari added: The book includes the political movement in the time period since 1946, the beginning of the evacuation of French colonialism from the Syrian territories until 1982, the days of the Israeli invasion, backed directly by the West, to Beirut, and Syria's rush to confront the aggression on its own after Muhammad Anwar Sadat removed Egypt from the regional balance equation and the introduction of Saddam Hussein. Iraq is caught in the trap of the futile war against Iran, and the founding leader Hafez al-Assad launched the concept of the Syrian strategic balance against the brutal Zionist entity.
In a statement to reporters, Dr. Al-Jaafari explained that the significance of the signing ceremony of this book today is to spread awareness among the public about misconceptions about political misconceptions and to correct terminology that are imposed on the media and are often repeated blindly. Analyze any political issue.
Al-Jaafari pointed out that the book explains, in an understandable and simple language, the identity and the true imprint of the Syrian policy, so that the motives of this policy and its repercussions on the ground are clarified.
The head of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, confirmed that Dr. Al-Jaafari, with his experience and accurate knowledge of political history, tries through this book issued by Dar Bustan Hisham to clarify the Syrian policy based on balances and principles in a fundamental way, thanks to which it was able to achieve great success on more than one level.
Al-Hourani indicated that this is the right time to print such a book, circulate the correct information, document our history with our own hands, and present the correct information in a national template instead of blowing the horns of foreign writers.
In turn, the Director-General of the Department of Arab Relations in the Palestine Liberation Organization, Ambassador Anwar Abdel Hadi, stated that Dr. Al-Jaafari is a representative of Syrian and Arab politics as well, citing his words that Syrian policy does not have an inferiority complex, as it has not and will not make concessions to the largest superpower in the world and does not compromise on legitimate rights.
Abdel-Hadi advised every media person, politician, and even any ordinary citizen to read the book and get acquainted with political facts with national documentation.
