The world is breaking heads: will Lapid the "lame duck" win or will Netanyahu make a "comeback"? | Israel today

While in Israel we have already gotten used to the situation of endless elections, the world media extensively covers not only the elections but also tries to explain to the readers why there has been no decision on the ballot for three years

Although the world media is busy with a lot of things this week, the fifth elections in Israel managed to get a respectable stage in the coverage of the main sites in the world already with the opening of the polls.

The "New York Times" came up with an article that actually wondered why Israel is going to elections again, and even created a special "blog" page that is regularly updated with the latest developments, as is done during other explosive events.

If that's not enough, put the article relatively high on the site.

"Israel is holding its fifth parliamentary election in less than four years," the headline stated.

The subtitle says: "Former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu hopes to return to power, but the polls again point to a undecided decision."

Another article explains to confused readers why Israel cannot decide who will lead it: ""Why does Israel repeatedly hold elections?"

In the British "Guardian" they did the same as their colleagues across the ocean and put Israel high on the site and even more than that: immediately after the main article, with the headline: "Israel: The country goes to the polls again and Netanyahu seeks to be re-elected together with his allies on the extreme right."

The motif of "Netanyahu's return" occupies a considerable share of headlines in the world, in general.

The CNN network also started in the same direction and came up with the headline already in the middle of the night: "Israel votes in fifth election in four years, while Netanyahu wants a comeback."

Similar headlines with Netanyahu's possible "comeback" were also in the major agencies "Reuters", "AP."

and more.

In the French "Le Monde" they went in a different direction: "Yair Lapid hopes to extend his stay in office".

Alongside other articles about Netanyahu making a move with "all his might" to return to power and about the Arabs being "kings of kings".

In the article about Lapid, we noted "During the last four months, Lapid has been a lame duck - without a majority, when he is entrusted with ongoing management until the elections."

But they explain that he tells his associates that "he doesn't need to win, he just needs to prevent Netanyahu from winning for the last time."
