Behind sunglasses, a gas can in hand, former presidential candidate Jean Lassalle appears in a rap clip posted online on November 2.

The piece, entitled "Jean Lassalle", is signed Théo Bertrand, actor of "Plus belle la vie", in collaboration with the rapper KAIKOH.

Within five days, the video had been viewed over 290,000 times.

The story takes place in Béarn, when a group of friends find themselves stuck on the road five hours from a wedding.

The former Basque-Béarnais deputy saves them from the breakdown and invites them to his home for an aperitif.

Jean Lassalle, present on almost all of the shots, then follows the dance steps, slices bread, uncorks bottles of wine and toasts with his guests.

"It's all in the movement," says the former mayor of Lourdios-Ichère at the end of the clip.

A title in his honor in 2017

The 67-year-old Béarnais had already had the right to a title in his honor, five years ago, with "This good old Jean Lassalle", by DJ Vanderkraft.

The song included excerpts from speeches by the former deputy of the fourth district of Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

Jean Lassalle had given up standing in the last legislative elections, after four terms as deputy, due to an open-heart operation.

His brother Julien had taken over, without success.
