The current world champion, France, presented its list of players summoned to the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Didier Deschamps's team, who seeks to break the curse and repeat the title consecutively, arrives as one of the favorites, with figures from Russia 2018 such as Varane, Griezmann, Giroud and Mbappé, as well as the arrival of young promises such as Camavinga and Tchouaméni and the return of a veteran who was absent from the last tournament, Karim Benzema, winner of the Ballon d'Or this year and one of the greatest figures in the World Cup.

But there are two notable and painful absences: N'Golo Kanté and Paul Pogba.

Both were decisive in the world title four years ago and are still elite players.

Kanté will miss the World Cup with France due to a hamstring injury in a game with his club, England's Chelsea.

Kanté has already had a successful operation, but a four-month long recovery is expected.

Pogba will miss the World Cup due to injury, something that has kept him away from football since his arrival at Juventus this season.

In the squad list there is a strong presence of footballers from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, with four for each club.
