The Chamber Orchestra (Comidas) of the Armenian Youth Association in Aleppo, led by Sarkis Askanian, performed a classical musical evening on the drama stage at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus.
The orchestra varied in musical instruments between violin, flute, piano and cello, and presented a mixture of classical and contemporary music and pieces from the Armenian heritage.
It is worth mentioning that the Chamber Orchestra (Comidas) was established in 2005 and periodically presents musical evenings in Damascus, Aleppo and Lattakia.
As for Komidas, who lived between 186-1935, he was the first to collect, transcribe, and revise Armenian traditional and folk songs and melodies, and presented them to the world.
