Avian flu broke out in Bavaria: protection zone established – measures tightened

There was another outbreak of bird flu in Bavaria.
This time the district of Landshut is affected.
Measures have now been taken and tightened up.
Pfarrkirchen – After another outbreak of bird flu, this time in the district of Landshut in Lower Bavaria, comprehensive measures were taken to prevent the spread.
This includes a protection zone and a surveillance zone.
There had already been an outbreak in Bavaria at the end of October.
Avian flu in Bavaria: Another outbreak in Bavaria – tightened measures
At the end of October there was an outbreak of bird flu in the district of Miltenberg - two cases had been confirmed.
These were the first cases in Bavaria since spring.
The Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) reacted immediately and tightened the containment measures.
For comparison: in northern Germany there were also confirmed cases of bird flu in the quieter summer months.
There was an outbreak of bird flu in Lower Bavaria.
Measures have been taken, including a restricted area.

Now there was another outbreak, this time the districts of Landshut and Rottal-Inn are affected.
A protection zone with a radius of three kilometers and a surveillance zone with a radius of ten kilometers have therefore been in force in the area since Sunday (November 13).

Comprehensive measures to contain bird flu in Bavaria
The measures within the protection and surveillance zone include, among other things, an obligation to report and stall.
Means: Poultry farmers have to inform the veterinary office about the number and location of their birds and lock them up in the barn for the time being.
