sine qua non
of a caregiver-patient relationship?

Dignity is an ontological dimension: all men are bearers of a dignity, which is linked to their humanity.
This dignity no one can diminish or subtract.
To define it, I take up the words of Lévinas: “
Dignity is what prevents me from killing the other
”.
It is infinitely respectable and must be maintained.
Many areas bring us back to the importance of this dignity.
The law, for example, recalls this universal dimension of human dignity in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted on December 10, 1948, drafted after awareness of the Holocaust: "
Recognition of the inherent dignity of all members of the human family and their equal and inalienable rights constitutes the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.
