A small plane crashed this Monday against a house in Medellín.
On board were six passengers and two crew members.
In a video recorded in the Belén neighborhood, a residential area in the west of the capital of Antioquia, you can see how the plane crashed into a house and smoke began to rise from the place.
The mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, has assured on social networks that it is a Piper Bimotor aircraft that covered the route from Medellín to the municipality of Pizarro (Chocó).
“What is known is that the plane was taking off from the Olaya Herrera airport when it reported an engine failure.
Apparently, he was going to return to the terminal to land, but he did not reach it ”, he declared.
The Olaya Herrera airport is in the middle of the city, and small and medium planes operate from it to different places in Colombia, especially Antioquia and neighboring departments, such as Chocó.
Quintero has assured that all the mechanisms to help the victims have already been activated.
At least 15 firefighters have arrived to attend to the emergency.
It is not yet known if the accident left anyone dead.
According to the municipality's Risk Management Department, "four machines with 15 units of the Official Fire Department of Medellín support the work of responding to the emergency presented in Belén Rosales."
