The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union denounced the Turkish regime's repeated practices of cutting off water for more than a million Syrian citizens in Al-Hasakah Governorate.
The Union said in a statement today: “In light of the continuation of Turkish practices represented by the repeated water cuts, the Arab Parliamentary Union denounces these actions and practices that violate the principles and good-neighborly relations and the provisions of international humanitarian law, which prohibits the use of water as a weapon against innocent civilians, whatever the justifications and pretexts.”
The Union warned of the dangerous repercussions of Turkish practices on the lives of Syrian civilians, calling for an end to them, and finding a radical and sustainable solution to provide water for citizens and end this human tragedy, expressing its support and sympathy with the Syrian people.
The Union affirmed its support for all national, Arab and regional efforts aimed at finding a solution to the crisis in Syria that establishes security, stability and prosperity in it and achieves the aspirations of its ancient people and their hopes for a brighter, more advanced and prosperous tomorrow.
