In the 99th minute: a budget was approved that will allow ambulances to operate in Yosh | Israel Hayom

Under pressure from the Yesha council, the government approved the transfer of a budget that would allow the continuation of the start-up competition for the ambulances in Judea and Samaria.

Just before the end of the year, and in the last decision it received, under pressure from the Yesha Council, today (Wednesday) the government approved the budget for MDA's launch stations in Judea and Samaria.

This is a budget that amounts to several million shekels, but since it is not in the base of the budget, it does not pass automatically but needs individual approval.

Although it is apparently a very small budget compared to the government, it is critical to the functioning of the medical forces in Judea and Samaria.

The complex security reality in Yosh, especially in the last year, requires that the various localities have ambulances ready for action at the moment of truth.

Passing the budget at the last minute is not a new phenomenon.

Despite the fact that these start-up stations are critical to the security of the residents and to the day-to-day activities, every few years the settlement is forced to beg the government to approve the budget in order to continue their activities.

For example, at the end of December 2018, the MDA had to threaten to close ambulance stations in Yosh in order to receive the budget required for their operation.

In recent times, the Yesha Council, led by Shlomo Neman, has been exerting heavy pressure on the government to approve the budget. Now, at the last moment, the budget has been approved and the start-up stations will receive the necessary money. The hope of the Yesha Council, and other factors in the settlement, is that the amount will be included in the next government to the base of the budget, and thus they will not have to beg every year for the critical budget.

The pressure was exerted by Shlomo Neman, head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council,

The condition of the ambulances in Yosh is deficient, to say the least. In addition to approving the current budget, there is an urgent need to transfer a considerable amount in order to repair and upgrade the existing system. Thus, most of the bullet-proof ambulances are not in good condition, and the drivers have to travel in certain areas, sometimes while Life is in danger, when they are not in protected vehicles. The reason for this is that a budget for bullet-proof ambulances has not been provided since 2002, and the budget for protecting vehicles, which amounts to tens of millions every year, has not been transferred for several years.
