The incoming Prime Minister asked the President of Ukraine against the UN decision to investigate the seizure of territories at the International Court of Justice in The Hague • The decision was passed by an overwhelming majority - with Kiev absent from the vote • Senior administration officials: "It was a great favor to Israel"

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky talked last night (Friday).

According to the Ukrainian side, the conversation was initiated by Israel and its purpose was to ask Ukraine not to vote in favor of the decision in the United Nations regarding the investigation by the International Court of Justice in The Hague into the "legality of the occupation". The decision was passed by an overwhelming majority yesterday at the UN General Assembly hearing in New York.

"An anti-Israeli decision"

Ukraine was absent from the vote held, unlike previous times when it voted in favor of anti-Israel resolutions.

"Our decision to be absent from the vote was one big favor, the goal of which is not to spoil relations with Israel completely," a senior Ukrainian official told Israel Hayom.

The senior official added that "we have not heard any support or any new agreement to our requests".

Prime Minister Netanyahu responded: "Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke with President Zelensky. Ukraine, which previously voted in favor of the anti-Israel resolution, was absent from the vote this time. Beyond that, we do not refer to the content of political talks that took place."
