Al-Kindy Cinemas hall was filled with audiences this evening at the screening of the movie (The Nymphs of Enchantment), written and directed by Martin McDonagh, starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan.
The film deals with the period of the end of the Irish Civil War in 1923 on the fictional Irish island of Inisherene, to tell the story of the friendship of the folk musician (Colm) with the good farmer Padrick and the strange decision he makes to end this friendship. Too boring for him.
The film, which belongs to the style of black comedy, dives into its characters to monitor their escalating transformations following Colm’s decision to move away from his friend, who enters a state of great sadness that soon leads him to become another person at the end of the film.
Regarding the selection of the film, director Firas Muhammad, one of the supervisors of the House of Cinema project, said in a statement to SANA: We wanted to present this film for its artistic value that lies in the text and its ability to study the characters it deals with and the impact of the environment on them in a controlled manner, while relying on the comedic aspect that facilitated the interaction of viewers with it despite its transformation. To tragedy and gloom at the end.
The film recently won the Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy or Musical Film, Best Screenplay and Best Actor for Colin Farrell, after winning several important awards, including the Venice Film Festival award last year for the Best Screenplay category.
The Cinema House project is being held by the General Film Organization under the supervision of directors Firas Muhammad and Ramy Nidal on a bi-monthly and periodic basis at the Canadian Cinema in Damascus.
