According to dpa information, Berlin's Friedrichstrasse will again be partially closed to car traffic from next Monday.

Specifically, it is about the approximately 500-meter-long section between Leipziger Straße and Französischer Straße.

The "BZ" and the RBB previously reported on the date.

According to dpa information, the blocking of car traffic should be published on Friday in the official gazette of the Mitte district - only then can the measure be implemented from Monday.

The blocking of the road section for car traffic is a hotly debated political issue and has many opponents and supporters in the capital, which is governed by the SPD, the Greens and the Left.

After a two-year closure, the section was only reopened to traffic at the end of November.

The administrative court had previously declared the blocking to be illegal.

Now the conversion of Friedrichstrasse into a promenade is to be implemented in a legally secure manner by rededication.
