On the net, Bayern are anything but impressed.

Augsburg – Baking a white sausage as a large loaf in the oven?

This is exactly what is possible with a product at Lidl.

The shape of Alpenfest's "Oven Weißwurst" is more reminiscent of meat loaf or bread.

In fact, it is an oven white sausage for slicing, for 2.49 euros.

Lidl: Oven white sausage fuels discussion – "It sure tastes great in a bun"

A photo of the unusual article is currently circulating on Reddit and Twitter.

"Seen at Lidl today.

What does the average Bavarian think about it?” asks Reddit user LostShao, who posted a photo of the white sausage online.

There are over 300 comments in the thread.

Numerous users demand penalties for “this adulterated white sausage”.

An “immediate arrest by Söder” and “eating up the outrage (2 kilos) under the supervision of Uli Hoeneß” are given here as examples.

Another replies simply: "I, the average Bavarian, would take this pack off the shelf, examine it with a raised eyebrow and put it back on the shelf with an 'Ah ge, so a shambles'."

Others like Lidl's idea.

"Looks like white sausage as meat loaf, I think it tastes great as a five-centimetre-thick slice in a bun." Another person can confirm this: "It's been around in southern Germany for quite a while, it almost tastes like white sausage breakfast."

Her husband bought the product and she was already looking forward to dinner with the white sausage.

It remains to be seen whether she liked it in the end.

“You can order white sausage meat loaf in any good butcher’s shop”

"Even if I can't approve of THIS product: You can order Weißwurst Leberkäs in any good Bavarian butcher's shop.

You don't have to like it, but 'maybe...!'” writes one man.

A woman shared a photo of a Kaufland brochure on Twitter and was annoyed by the name of a pastry – because the name in Franconia is completely different.
