A sacristan died and another priest was seriously injured after an attack with a knife perpetrated by a subject in the Church of San Isidro in Cádiz, in the southwest of Spain, reported both the Ministry of the Interior of that country as the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, in his official Twitter account.
The attacker was arrested and is in the custody of the National Police.
The Ministry of the Interior of Spain reported that it is investigating and analyzing the facts to determine the motive for the attack.
Monsignor Francisco César García Magán, auxiliary bishop of Toledo and general secretary of the Episcopal Conference of Spain, lamented the fact through his official Twitter account: “It is with pain that I have received the news of the events in Algeciras.
In these sad moments of suffering, we join the pain of the family of the victims and the diocese of Cádiz and we ask the God of life and peace for the speedy recovery of the wounded”.
