Edgardo Buscaglia, a senior researcher in Law and Economics at Columbia University, talks with Carmen Aristegui about how over the years he obtained information that led him to conclude that Genaro García Luna, Mexico's former Secretary of Security, had alleged ties to crime organized.
Buscaglia says that the disappeared José Luis Santiago Vasconcelos, who was head of the then-called Specialized Investigation Office for Organized Crime (Siedo), shared information about the alleged relationship between the authorities and the Sinaloa Cartel.
Vasconcelos died in a plane crash on November 4, 2008 in Mexico City.
