A repentant narco who had testified against politicians and police disappeared

2023-02-23T22:26:24.021Z

This is Federico 'Morenita' Marín (33), kingpin of marijuana trafficking in Corrientes and witness against politicians, police and judicial officials.

Since the beginning of the week, no one has heard from Federico "Morenita" Marín (33), convicted as one of the three capos who handled the

Paraguayan marijuana traffic

in the city of Itatí in Corrientes.

In the middle of the holiday, XL Marín -who had been in house arrest since the end of 2022- asked the Justice for permission to leave his house to go to a hospital for bleeding hemorrhoids.

But it was all a lie, as it turned out later.

Relocated to a secret place in the Province of Buenos Aires with his wife and five children after

declaring he was sorry

, "Morenita" wore an electronic monitoring anklet, which is why it was detected that he had left his home.

The first alert was on Monday.

The Electronic Surveillance Division notified the Federal Oral Court No. 3 of the Capital (which controls the execution of Marín's sentence) that the drug trafficker had moved away from his house.

Immediately afterwards, the TOF asked the Victim and Witness Protection Program to check the situation.

From the program they called Marín who answered the phone and told them that he had gone to a hospital to be treated for hemorrhoids.

Since "Morenita" notified the Program when she returned to her house (and this was confirmed), things didn't get any worse.

Something similar happened on Tuesday.

Marín's anklet revealed again that he had left home.

This time Morenita did not answer the phone.

When he asked his wife where she had gone, she told them that she went back to the hospital.

However, she went to the hospital that the family said and it was confirmed that she had never been treated there.

The question is not a small thing.

Marin's testimony was key to prosecute and bring to trial

two mayors, police officers, gendarmes, lawyers and the former federal judge of Corrientes

Carlos Soto Dávila and two of his secretaries, the latter currently being tried in Corrientes.

Did Marín escape or is he going to appear in a ditch?

That is the question that worries everyone, prosecutors, judges and Investigators from the Procunar who promoted the investigation into marijuana trafficking in Itatí.

For now, his name already appears in a new national and international arrest warrant.

Today Marin is a fugitive

.

an important one.

He is wanted by Interpol.

Marín appeared on the radar of the Federal Justice in 2015. And his fate was marked by the “Sapucay” mega-case, which made it possible to establish how three drug gangs acted with impunity in Itatí, even with the complicity of local political power.

According to the PROCUNAR investigation, led by Diego Iglesias, the Marín gang sent shipments of marijuana to Tucumán, Córdoba, Mendoza, Santa Fe, Chaco, Buenos Aires and Villa 21 in the City of Buenos Aires.

"Morenita" was recently arrested in October 2018 when a Gendarmerie patrol surrounded his house, in Itatí.

The man was heavily armed and

turned himself in after lengthy negotiations

.

In the Sapucay case, the drug lord from Corrientes signed an abbreviated trial for 12 years in prison after accepting the accusation of being a member of an illegal association, and co-perpetrator in the drug trade aggravated by using minors under 18 years of age and by the participation of public workers.

Since he had declared repentance, the Court of Cassation reduced his sentence in half.

Imprisoned in the Marcos Paz Prison, he was granted house arrest on November 9, 2022. Everyone already knew that he had testified in Justice, incriminating even drug partners, and his life behind bars was worthless.
