Serious mistake.

What happened was that

the elevator got stuck as soon as it started and the bride and groom were trapped between the first and second floors for two hours

, thus missing their own party reception.

"We went up about five feet (about 1.5 meters) and then we stopped," Panav Jha told WBTV, adding: "The door was slightly ajar, so I was like, 'Hmm, that's not normal.'"

Both were trapped along with four guests.

The marriage was locked up for two hours.

Charlotte firefighters said that after arriving they had to manipulate the elevator to lift people up and out through the top of the cubicle.

"We went through all the normal troubleshooting that you do on a lift call and none of it worked, so we realized we had to lift them up. It ended up being a rope rescue," firefighter David Budd explained.

After they rescued the first person, Victoria's sister asked them to please get the newlyweds out quickly, since they had to go entertain the guests of their own party.

Finally, the firefighters rescued the 6 and everyone was able to participate in the celebration.
