The branch of the Arab Writers Union in Suwayda launches the Suwayda Award for Literary Creativity

Today, the branch of the Arab Writers Union in Suwayda announced the launch of the (Suwayda Prize for Literary Creativity), provided that it is allocated each year to a different literary genre.

The head of the Arab Writers Union branch in As-Suwayda, writer Wijdan Abu Mahmoud, explained to the cultural Sana that the award, which was launched in cooperation with the Al-Shihab Al-Munir Virtual School, will be allocated in its first session for the year 2023 to the best collection of poetry, according to certain conditions.

And it indicated that among the conditions is that the applicant be a citizen of the Syrian Arab Republic, and that the manuscript be authentic and written in the standard Arabic language of no less than one hundred pages “I4” and not submitted to another award.

Also among the conditions is that it constitutes an aesthetic and intellectual addition that enhances the concepts of innovation and renewal, provided that it is accompanied by a resume and an identity photo, so that the anonymous works are attached to a laser disc and sent to the Union branch in the city of As-Suwayda.

Abu Mahmoud pointed out that in this session dedicated to the poetry group, no particular form of the poem was specified, whether it was traditional, classic, or prose, or the age of the applicants, in order to provide an opportunity for all writers, poets, and youth with the aim of encouraging innovation, renewal, experimentation, and enhancing intellectual and literary value.

She pointed out that those wishing can apply for the award in its round for this year, starting from the first of March until the 1st of next July, after which the works will be evaluated and the awards will be announced and distributed in a ceremony to be determined at the time, so that the first place holder will receive one and a half million Syrian pounds, and the second one will receive one million pounds. The third is seven hundred thousand pounds, and the winning works will be printed at the expense of the federation.
