The debate concerns the manner in which it is operated, owned and fulfilled as a media body that serves the public interest.

In this bill, MK Dan Iloz requests to amend the ownership structure of the corporation, to privatize it and transfer it to the public with the help of shares.

According to the bill, the state will grant every citizen of Israel over the age of 18 one share of the corporation, and within two years from the publication date, which allow preparation, the Israel Broadcasting Corporation will become a public company.

MK Dan Iloz (Likud) said regarding the process: "Part of the opposition to the privatization of the corporation stems from the fear that the capitalists are the ones who manage the other channels.

In the solution proposed here, we return public broadcasting to the public, when it will be owned by it.

No more government officials, who will manage on behalf of the public, but the public itself who will own the channel.

True freedom of the press can only exist when the government does not interfere with media outlets, certainly not when it runs them.

My law, if passed, will strengthen press freedom in Israel."
