The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office announced today (Wednesday) to MK Ofer Kassif's deputy that Legal Adviser to the Government Gali Bahar-Miara is considering prosecuting him for assaulting a police officer under aggravated circumstances during a demonstration that took place in May 2022. His prosecution is subject to a hearing that will be held for him. The Prosecutor's Office said that the decision was made on State Attorney Amit Isman's opinion.
MK Kasif was recorded attacking the policeman during a demonstration against the Supreme Court's ruling that ordered the evacuation of villages in the southern Hebron mountain area. According to the prosecutor's announcement, as part of the deployment of the security forces, orders were issued that ordered the restriction of bus traffic and declared various locations in the area as military territory Closed. In response, the policeman hit the hood of the vehicle and shouted at MK Kasif. According to the suspicion, MK Kasif got out of his vehicle and hit the policeman in the head.
