: Lawyer Richard Murdo was convicted today (Friday) of murdering his wife Maggie and son Paul, after a high-profile six-week trial and after the man claimed that he was innocent.
The judge, Clifton Newman, ordered the convict to be taken from the court and brought back within a week for the reading of his sentence.
According to claims in the media in the United States, a claim that is also based on the judge's past rulings, he intends to sentence Mardao to thirty years in prison without the possibility of parole or a shortened sentence for one of the counts of murder for which Mardao was convicted.
The judge turned to the jurors and said: "The circumstantial evidence, the direct evidence and in fact all the evidence before us pointed only to the conclusion you all reached."
Murdaugh was seen shaking his head at his son Buster before sheriff's office deputies led him out of the courtroom.
Murdo, 54 and scion of a line of powerful South Carolina lawyers and politicians, has been in prison in the state since 2021 after being convicted of fraud.
Murdaugh was convicted of defrauding a client after millions of dollars disappeared as part of a compensation agreement following the death of a housekeeper in a case he worked on as a lawyer.

During the murder trial, part of which was broadcast live, 75 witnesses were called to testify in front of the court, including Murdaw's brother, who came to testify in his favor.
Except in his declaration of innocence, Marado avoided during the entire trial to say explicitly that he did not kill his wife and son.
The murder took place in 2021 on a farm owned by Mardo and the bodies of the two were found in a kennel in the compound with clear signs of a gunshot.
